Java Architect

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Lead / Architect – Java to design, develop, and oversee the architecture of enterprise-scale Java applications. In this leadership role, you will be responsible for building scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions that align with business objectives. You will provide technical direction, mentor development teams, establish best practices, and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver high-quality software while driving innovation and architectural excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Design scalable, secure, and maintainable application architectures that meet business and technical requirements.
• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of enterprise applications using Java 8+, Servlets, and JSP.
• Evaluate and recommend technologies, frameworks, and tools to optimize application performance and scalability.
• Provide technical leadership, mentor development teams, and promote engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders to deliver robust software solutions.
• Establish and enforce coding standards, architectural guidelines, and development best practices.
• Conduct code reviews and ensure high-quality, reliable, and maintainable deliverables.
• Optimize application performance, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and ensure production stability.
• Write clean, efficient, and testable code with strong unit testing practices using JUnit.
• Work with XML for configuration and data processing.
• Contribute to build and deployment processes; experience with ANT or similar build tools is an advantage.
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and drive continuous improvement across the development lifecycle.

Required Skills

• Strong expertise in Java 8 or higher, Servlets, JSP, XML, and JUnit.
• Proven experience in designing enterprise application architecture and leading development teams.
• Strong understanding of software design principles, coding standards, and architectural best practices.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management abilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of professional experience in Java application development.
• Demonstrated experience leading technical teams or architecting enterprise applications.
• Experience in the insurance domain is highly desirable.
